Since the operational station change to Kendrew Barracks, our pupil numbers have fluctuated through mobility. We worked closely with the County Council and the armed forces to ensure that service children have a minimal impact on the school. However the large numbers that come in ‘en bloc’ have had to be “managed” in order for service children to settle quickly. This work has been acclaimed by Army personnel and the council. Our work was recognised recently with the college being entered into the national IAA awards in the category “Reaching out to the community” where we were runner up.
Our strong partnership with the Forces ensures the service students receive a high level of quality transition and learning on entry to the college with on-going support. Problems and issues are dealt with at source.
The College has a significant number of service families (Kendrew Barracks, St Georges Barracks and RAF Wittering) have high levels of mobility and deployment. We work in an effective partnership with the Armed Forces and the Local Authority to ensure the service students receive a high level of quality transition and learning on entry to the college with on going support. Problems and issues have been dealt with at source.
We have worked hard over the past few years to build a framework of support for all forces students and their families at the college. This revolves around our Forces Families Liaison Officer with a team of support staff to ensure a smooth transition both in and out of the college.
The Forces Families Liaison Team is headed up by Kim Quigley, as ex-forces personnel herself she fully understands the complexities of family life within the armed forces and works closely with welfare units on all local bases.
We are also delighted to announce the provision of a free bus service for all CCR students from Wittering for the next academic year (2015/16) and the college currently has spaces available in a number of year groups across the college should you wish to transfer your child to CCR.
If you are interested in securing a place at the college for your son / daughter please contact Kim Quigley on 01780 762168 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
